Makeup Guide for Valentine’s Day

BE EYE-CATCHING
They say chemistry is all about eye contact, here’s how to bring out those sultry peepers of yours!

Barely There Shadow
Say no to smoky eyes and make eyes appear bigger and more vibrant with soft pink, white, and nude tones. Choose colors that could double as a blush or highlighter and play with mixing these shadows on your lids. We love hues with a bit of shimmer or a slightly metallic finish…like a champagne or a sparkling peach. If you prefer not to glisten, go for a shadow texture with a satin finish to add a hint of sheen when choosing solid and matte colors. If you like a bit more smolder around the eyes, play up a few shades of deeper pink with dark plum for definition. Remember to keep the look gentle around the eyes by dusting lightly and blending well, only slightly applying shadow to the bottom lash line.

Cat Eye
The cat eye is signature for sexy. Incorporating that always sought after cat eye is really the most simple way to get deepened, “come hither” eyes without having to have much else going on. Use a liquid liner with a precision point to help you create a defined line with a winged edge. To ensure a seamless stroke, prime your eyes with a pencil beforehand. It’s also important to apply liquid liner only to the top lid, as having a bold line on top and bottom can change your eye’s natural shape and make your look too overdone for the occasion.

Iridescence
Take your highlighter or favorite shimmery white or light gold/silver shadow and line your eye’s inner corners for a hint of glimmer. This adds a dreamy, fantasy-like quality to your makeup look. It really helps to open up the eyes and brighten the face for a fresh effect. Go subtle or striking, the choice is yours.

Full & Fluttery Lashes
For an ultra romantic look, try adding falsies to your lash line and give your face an extra wow-factor for the special night out. If you’re into the natural look, it’s a great way to spruce up without color. False eyelash strips come in a variety of widths and lengths – you can even add additional lashes along your bottom lids for doll-like eyes. For a more undetectable but voluminous look, you can even choose to apply individuals one by one. For this type of customized lash application, you’ll need to be a pro with glue and placement. If you’re not, you can book this as a Butterfly service with our makeup artists and get fluttery in just 5-15 minutes! It’s recommended to make lashes the final step and have eye makeup completely done beforehand.

Brow Perfection
Don’t forget about touching up your most face framing feature…your brows! It’s always best to give your brow specialist a visit for shaping and maintenance at least two days before the night you’re planning to look flawless for. If your skin is sensitive, skip the wax and go for some TLC with a detail-oriented tweezing.
