Kattia’s Mommy Diary: The “Go Bag”

  • Comfortable shoes. They may be pacing the corridors!
  • A change of clothes. Your birth partner might want to take a shower.
  • Mobile phone and charger.
  • A digital camera for taking photos or a short film of the birth, and for capturing those early moments with your baby. My husband is taking his GoPro and a head strap! He’s been warned… NO video during labor!
  • Snacks and drinks for keeping their energy up when they can’t leave your side. Again, my hubby is unique, so he is likely to pack a shaker and a lime squeezer for margaritas. Maybe even a couple of bottles of red wine to help him chill out, which is best for all of us!

  • Baby blanket.
  • Onesies, onesies, and more onesies! Newborns will go right through these.
  • One pair of gloves, and a hat.
  • One outfit for the trip home.
  • Baby car seat. Some hospitals won’t let you leave by car without one.
  • Jacket or snowsuit for winter babies.
