Summer Makeup Trend: Bright, Blue-Green Eyeliner

Make your eyes pop this season with a color liner underneath! It’s a safe way to street test that bright shade you’ve had your eye on – and with just a single line of color, this fun look is subtle enough to pull off anywhere. Try a hue with a bit of blue and a little green, such as a bright teal, aquamarine, or turquoise liner. Butterfly Studio founder Kattia Solano says loves her eyeliner pencils by Delux Beauty because they are creamy and stay on all day! A blueish-green shade is trending for summer because the fresh color will instantly open up the eye area. It also works well on most hair and skin tones. Kattia suggests pairing your eye makeup with a light lipstick in a natural or pale pink tone, and going with a lighter brow using a pencil like Kevin Aucoin’s Warm Blonde. “It’s a great way to glam up this summer without using too much makeup!”

When lining, the best technique is to draw from the inside out. For a more subdued hint of color, create a thinner line or apply liner with a gentle pressure and blend to soften the look. You can also use a colored eye shadow. Be sure to add a basic black or rich brown liner along the top lash line for depth – and don’t forget to open the eyes with a stroke of mascara for contrast! If you’re going bolder, draw a wider line and layer on the color for more pigment, or apply parallel to a black liquid liner. False lashes are another great way to make the look even more party or evening appropriate. For extra drama, use your blue-green to create a colored smoky eye and extend your line a bit farther out. A metallic liner, loose iridescent shimmer, or glitter can also help to enhance those blues and greens!
